Guangzhou - Day 3
Well we learned last night that Katie-Beth and Benadryl do not get along!
We tried giving her some before bed when she was having such a runny
nose, and it just kept her up for the next 4 hours. Screaming. The
poor thing didn't get to sleep until after 11:00. It's a shame too,
we were hoping to use it to knock her out on the plane. Oh well....
Today Katie-Beth had her physical. All clear. We walked over to the
clinic and she was checked over by 3 different doctors. She has 2 ears,
a throat, responds to noises (although not that quickly. She was too
busy paying attention to the first noise to worry about the second one!)
has a good heartbeat and has all the correct body parts.
Apparently the clinic is much better than it used to be. I guess they
used to have the babies out in the room with all the other patients and
it just didn't seem very clean. Now the babies are in their own section
and all 9 babies only took about 35 minutes.
Katie-Beth now weighs 20.5 lbs and is 28.5 inches long. What a big girl!
She was very good during the exam and never cried or fussed once. Several
of the babies were very unhappy.
We have learned that Katie-Beth doesn't cry much in public. She is always
very happy when there is a lot going on. And she is a huge flirt!
After the medical exam we went down to the pool. Big Big fun! Katie-Beth
loved the pool and really didn't want to get out. She splashed around
in the water and just giggled! Which is a good thing since she probably
has a lot of swimming in her future.
The pool was very nice it is surrounded by flowers like Cassia, Bougainvillea,
Mandavilla, Hibiscus, I felt like I was back in Florida. It also has
a really nice waterfall which of course was a big hit with the older
children.
Katie-Beth's two newest tricks are fish face kisses (too cute! This
is one Mommy taught her) and even more impressive, she slides herself
off the bed feet first and then stands holding onto the bed. But then
she tries to climb back up onto the bed which doesn't work as well. Still
no crawling, but we are working on it.
I also am including a picture of the Barbie Doll the White Swan gives
all the adoptive parents who stay there. It is a blond mommy with a Chinese
baby. Isn't it funny?
